Stuart James
Stuart James, a veteran information technology executive with over 29 years of healthcare experience is the Founder and President of 2020 Healthcare IT Strategies, Inc. After more than two decades successfully leading IT organizations for large health systems, he founded 2020 HIT to apply his talents in a manner that has the greatest impact on improving healthcare through leveraging technology to enable effective and efficient care delivery. As such, his focus is on innovative healthcare startups, community hospitals and healthcare organizations outside the United States.
Mr. James’ healthcare career began as a hospital corpsman in the United States Naval Reserves where he served for eight years. In 2013, he joined Sutter Health as Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Central Valley Region before being named as the system’s Chief Operations Officer for Information Services in January of 2015. Prior to joining Sutter, he served as the Director of Technical Services for Comanche County Memorial Hospital and as the Director of Information Services for Southwestern Medical Center, both in Lawton, Oklahoma. He then spent almost fourteen years with Vidant Health (formerly University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina) where he held several IT leadership roles, including serving as CIO for his last seven years.
Mr. James holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Electronics from Cameron University and a Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma City University. He has served as a member of global healthcare advisory boards for both Cisco and Oracle. He is a member of the College of Health Information Management Executives (CHIME), the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the IT Senior Management Forum (ITSMF).
